HEY! YOU!

Assigned to create a series of posters with the goal to inform an audience, I designed “Hey! You!” with the purpose in mind to be hung in random outdoor spaces to aggressively encourage self-care to its passing viewers.

The Research

My main goal of “Hey! You!” was to contrast the positive message with an aggressive delivery.

To accomplish this visually, I wanted to combine bold, flat colors and clean lines with a color palette similar to 1960s rock posters.

The Colors
and Layout

Initially, my color palettes for the posters were more muted and monochromatic, which I would later revise for a brighter palette.

The Final Posters

“Hey! You!” had three final color variations with four layout variants, each one equally bright, to convey the feeling of happiness in three different ways. I incorporated gradients into the palettes for a modern take on the 1960s music posters that inspired the “Hey! You!” project.

The Final Mockups

The final result was one that blended retro with modern and joyful with aggressive. The goal of the assignment’s prompt, to inform the audience, was also achieved with the posters’ self-care message.
